The Democrats’ GM Fiction

via The Democrats’ GM Fiction – The Editors – National Review Online.

“But Democrats have nonetheless made one of the most abusive episodes in the entire bailout era their economic cornerstone: the government takeover of General Motors.”

The just make it up. The fact is, this was all about union votes.

Obamacare law designed to unionize 21 million health care workers

p>via Book: Obamacare law designed to unionize 21 million health care workers | The Daily Caller.

“The government employee unions can then enlist pro-union state governments to treat these health care workers as ‘government employees,’” Factor told The Daily Caller, “and unionize them just like they unionized the care providers” themselves.”

Is this why Andy Stern made so many visits to the WH?

Emails: Treasury drove cutoff of non-union Delphi pensions

via Emails: Treasury drove cutoff of non-union Delphi pensions | The Daily Caller.

“Delphi, a General Motors company, is one of the world’s largest automotive parts manufacturers. Twenty thousand of its workers lost nearly their entire pensions when the government bailed out GM. At the same time, Delphi employees who were members of the United Auto Workers union saw their pensions topped off and made whole.”

Union preferential treatment.

A Cynical Process

A Cynical Process.

“Now that the Obama administration has appointed a majority of the members of the National Labor Relations Board, the NLRB leadership has imposed new requirements that employers supply union organizers with the names and home addresses of every employee. Nor do employees have a right to decline to have this personal information given out to union organizers, under NLRB rules.”

Is this fair?

Villaraigosa says L.A. must lay off ‘a large number of people’

Villaraigosa says L.A. must lay off 'a large number of people' – latimes.com.

“The announcement comes weeks after the city’s five-member employee bargaining committee, which includes Villaraiogsa, asked city unions to give up raises that are scheduled for the fiscal year that begins July 1. Those unions refused to reopen contract talks.”

Unions would rather have people lose jobs in a weak economy than give up any pay increases (i.e share the wealth). And they call other people greedy.

Democrats and Teacher Tenure

via Democrats and Teacher Tenure – Mona Charen – National Review Online.

“Do you have life tenure in your job? Unless you are one of the above-mentioned professors, a federal judge, or a public-school teacher, the answer is almost certainly no. So why do teachers have it? Whose interests does it serve other than the teachers’? It permits sloth and incompetence. Can you keep your job without reference to how well you perform it? Tenure insulates teachers from accountability”

It’s about the teachers, not the students.

Labor Unions | Obamacare Waivers

U.S. Postal Service’s Latest Cost-Cutting Plan Shows Need For Privatization

U.S. Postal Service's Latest Cost-Cutting Plan Shows Need For Privatization – Investors.com.

“On the one hand, it’s weighed down by unions that control 85% of its workforce, impeding reasonable efficiency improvements.

Example: In just the first six months of this year, the Postal Service spent $4.3 million paying postal workers to do literally nothing, thanks to labor agreements that require the service to keep workers on the payroll even when mail volume is low or machinery breaks down.”

Delivering junk mail under the union label.

California prison doctors, barred from seeing patients, collect full pay

via California prison doctors, barred from seeing patients, collect full pay – latimes.com.

“California prisons have paid doctors and mental health professionals accused of malpractice an estimated $8.7 million since 2006 to do no work at all or to perform menial chores like sorting mail, tossing out old medical supplies and reviewing inmate charts for clerical errors.”

Institutional bureaucracies and unions (suspended teachers) function like this at taxpayer expense. An outrage.

Occupying the Minds of Our Youth

Articles: Occupying the Minds of Our Youth.

“The Occupy movement illustrates why the founders of the United States crafted a republic, and not a democracy.  As John Adams stated, “Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself.  There is never a democracy that did not commit suicide.”

This is part of what are children learn in school; the union agenda.

Here’s to a long life for Occupy Wall Street

Here’s to a long life for Occupy Wall Street | New Hampshire OPINION02.

“And forgiveness of “all debt on the entire planet period.” Progressivism’s battle cry is: “Mulligan!” It demands the ultimate entitlement — emancipation from the ruinous results of all prior claims of entitlement.”

Occupy everywhere vs Tea Party.

Postal Worker Unions | Tea Party Group

via Postal Worker Unions | Tea Party Group | Mail Service | The Daily Caller.

“In what appears to be an attempt to overwhelm their critics, postal union members have sent more than 100 pounds of mail to a tea party group advocating for United States Postal Service reform.”

More thugs.

Why not pay back taxpayers first?

via Why not pay back taxpayers first? | The Daily Caller.

“How about paying back the $15 billion first? I’m sure there are sophisticated arguments for why the UAW members shouldn’t pay back the taxpayers who bailed their employer out of bankruptcy before they negotiate a deal that gives them each a $5,000 bonus. I just can’t think of them right now. … Just from a PR standpoint, repaying the debt would seem like a good idea. …”

I guess they are exempt from “sharing the wealth”. If a bank pays bonuses first it’s a travesty (i.e Merrill), but when a union does it, well it’s just not that important to be even covered by the AWOL media.

Will Congress Stop the NLRB?

Will Congress Stop the NLRB? – Phil Kerpen – National Review Online.

The Obama administration appears intent on using back-door means to accomplish every element of the extreme legislative agenda that the American people decisively rejected in the 2010 midterm election. Nearly every agency has been in on the act, but perhaps the most egregious behavior has been that of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), which is pursuing not just what was in the failed “card check” legislation, but a frontal assault on the right to work in America. ”

Behind the scenes bullying.

Longshoremen storm Wash. state port, damage RR

via Longshoremen storm Wash. state port, damage RR – Yahoo! News.

“Hundreds of Longshoremen stormed the Port of Longview early Thursday, overpowered and held security guards, damaged railroad cars, and dumped grain that is the center of a labor dispute, said Longview Police Chief Jim Duscha.”

Thugs. Obama supporters.
