“Van Jones, president of the progressive organization Rebuild the Dream, joins The Last Word to discuss what Washington should be doing about jobs. Jones calls the US’ deficit problem “phony” and made up.
“Hold on to your hats, we’re going to have an October offensive to take back the American dream and rescue America’s middle class,” Jones told MSNBC’s “The Last Word.”
Jones warns of an “American Fall” like there was an Arab Spring.”
A warning from Mr. Communist. Phony deficits? Bring it on!
“Obamaʼs “soft” comment, and its political circumstances, echo a controversial speech by then-President Jimmy Carter. In July 1979, Carter declared that “in a nation that was proud of hard work, strong families, close-knit communities and our faith in God, too many of us now tend to worship self-indulgence and consumption.”
The speech was lated dubbed the “malaise speech,” even though it did not use the word.
Carter gave the speech as his polls were falling, and the countryʼs economic crisis was worsening while energy prices rose.”
It’s because of you, Mr President.
“In what appears to be an attempt to overwhelm their critics, postal union members have sent more than 100 pounds of mail to a tea party group advocating for United States Postal Service reform.”
“He blamed the unstable U.S. economic situation on federal policymakers responsible for housing, credit, public finance and infrastructure issues who have done nothing, leaving the Federal Reserve to act.”
As long as our President keeps putting ideas that aren’t going to be passed and refuses to deal with budget deficits then things will get worse. Markets acting like pre 2008.
“It’s increasingly hard to tell the government’s green jobs subsidies apart from the Democrats’ friends and family rewards program.”
I’m sure Gore is in there somewhere too.
“Economists at Citigroup have again cut their global gross domestic product forecasts for 2011 and 2012 as growth prospects “continue to deteriorate quickly.”
We expect more sovereign ratings downgrades among Euro Area countries in the next 3-6 months, including Italy, Spain, Greece, Portugal and Cyprus,” Buiter said.”
“Best I can tell, their major offense is holding Washington accountable. Listen to them, as I did on Mackinac Island last week during the Republican Leadership Conference, and the only demand you hear is that politicians stop mortgaging America’s future to reckless spending and swelling deficits.
All they want is for politicians to finally do what both Democrats and Republicans always said they’d do — make the government live within its means — but never got around to doing until the tea party forced their hand.”
Why is this so hard to understand?
“Unemployment taxes, which were a relatively low bottom-line cost in 2008, are now becoming a significant cost,” Holmes said. “It discourages companies from electing to hire new employees.”
“We try not to hire because we will be socked by a bigger tax bill for unemployment insurance,” said Keskin.
Even unemployment costs.
Janeane Garofalo: “Herman Cain is probably well liked by some of the Republicans because it hides the racist elements of the Republican party. Conservative movement and tea party movement, one in the same.
“People like Karl Rove liked to keep the racism very covert. And so Herman Cain provides this great opportunity say you can say Look, this is not a racist, anti-immigrant, anti-female, anti-gay movement. Look we have a black man.”
I think her mind is made up.
“The Energy Department said the project will result in 600 construction jobs and 45 permanent jobs.
“If we want to be a player in the global clean energy race, we must continue to invest in innovative technologies that enable commercial-scale deployment of clean, renewable power like solar,” Energy Secretary Steven Chu said.”
Let’s be sure to follow up on this…..
“When the president presented his deficit-cutting plan last week, he included measures that will drive up drug prices and squash investment in companies that develop drugs and medical devices, said John Castellani, president of the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA).
The industry is especially fuming over Mr. Obama’s push to reduce the length of time a company can produce biologic drugs exclusively by paring the patent protection time frame from 12 years down to seven.”
I guess they must know better than people who actually run the business.
Yes, let’s suspend the constitution for a little while. This is how some Democrats actually think.
“Didn’t Obama promise his signature health reform plan would lower insurance premiums? As a matter of fact he did, saying just before he signed it into law that ObamaCare would “bring down the cost of health care for families, for businesses and for the federal government.”
I thought that’s what he said.
“Now we have the federal government butting their nose into this TV ad. Another example of them getting involved in things they have no business getting involved in. Where is the free speech of American citizens?”
The Chicago way.
“Well, just look at the results: As of June, 10 of the 33 drilling rigs present in the Gulf before the spill had left to other countries, and another 8 that were destined for the Gulf had been detoured. According to one recent study, 60,000 jobs were lost along the Gulf coast in 2010 alone as a result of Obama’s deepwater-drilling moratorium and slow-walking of shallow-water permits. Gov. Bobby Jindal justly called Obama’s policies a “second Katrina.”
Let’s destroy our economy so we can save the planet.
